"Mommy" little 6 year old Crystal said pointing to the family dog, a Doberman whose name is 'Mr. Beans' was choking on something. "Mr. Beans is choking" "I'm sure Mr. Beans has got another bone to chew on dear" Clair said to her little girl, "Don't worry about it" Little Crystal keep looking out in the backyard at Mr. Beans through the screen door. "But Mommy, Mr. Beans is getting hurt" came the reply.

Clair looked over to her husband Wayne as he kept his nose in the sports section of the paper, "Honey, go check on Mr. Beans will you" "Sure Hun" He said as he folded up the paper and took a quick sip of coffee. "Now we wouldn't want Mr. Beans to get hurt, now would we pop tart". Little Crystal giggles every time her dad called her that, a nickname she got because of her love of 'pop tarts'. She lifted up her arms so she could go help, and Wayne picked her up and both went outside to check on Mr. Beans.

As they got closer Wayne got a bit worried about the dog, he was clearly choking on something, and could tell the dog was gasping for air. He set his little pop tart down and tried to see what was in the dog's throat. He couldn't get a clear look but knew he had to do something soon or the dog could die.

Wayne grabbed around the dog's middle and gave a few quick jerks, and something came out of Mr. Bean's mouth and fell to the ground. Little Crystal was jumping for joy to see the dog start to breathe, but Wayne saw what fell out of the dog's mouth and got 'worried'. "Honey, its time for school, Mr. Beans is alright now, let go back in the house".

Wayne leaned over and whispered in his wife's ear that there was a problem and to keep it cool until Crystal got on the bus for school. She looked at him like what is wrong with her little girl, but Wayne just stared at his wife and turned and flicked his head twice to wards the front to say I'll talk after Crystal is gone to school. Clair came back in the kitchen after waving to her little girl as the bus drove off, "What's up Wayne, you scared me" she was saying when she noticed her husband on the phone.

"Ok" Wayne told who ever was on the other end "Have them hurry" He hung up the phone and turned to his wife, she looked at him like what in the hell was going on out there when he said "The dog was chocking on a finger" Clair just looked at him like what "A human finger honey" Wayne kept saying "The dog some how got a hold of a human finger" Clair blinked like she didn't get it so Wayne said "That was the cops, they're coming right over to have a look or investigate, or what ever they do". It was then it sunk in to Clair on what was going on.

Both were in the back yard, Wayne put Mr. Beans on his chain as Clair noticed the police car turn the corner and was heading this way. She started towards the front of the house to meet them, and took a wide circle around the finger that still lay on the ground.

Officer Jorgensen was kneeing down and pushed the finger into a plastic bag with a pen, he stood up and asked Wayne if he knew how the dog got a hold of it, Wayne and Clair told him everything they knew and what happened this morning with the dog and the finger. Wayne said to the cop that he had a look around but was stumped as to where the finger came from.

Officer Jorgensen took his own look around the backyard and agreed with Wayne that he had no clue as to where the finger came from either, but if he needed any more information he'd contact them. A few hours later a team of detectives did come and was doing a investigation in the back yard, Wayne and Clair both watched from the kitchen window as the detectives went over the yard with metal detectors and they're own dog. But found nothing!

Late that same night Wayne and Clair were in bed watching TV when they heard a woman moaning, they both looked at each other as if to see if the other heard it too. Clair went to check on her daughter and came back shrugging her shoulders, Crystal was asleep and everything was fine. She got back in bed when she look back towards the door and saw what appeared to be an old lady in an old dirty dress floating above the floor, Clair grabbed Wayne's arm and got his attention. She pointed to the door and he took a breath when he saw the old lady too.

Floating there, this old lady had her head back a little bit and off to one side, her silver hair hung lifelessly just pass her shoulders as she slowly lifted up her left arm, stretching it out towards them showing them that she had no index finger. In what only could be described as a chilling to the bone moan, the dirty old lady said "Give it back to me, let me rest in peace" then disappeared.

Both were shook up about what they just saw, the conversation went from what just happened to if it had anything to do with the finger the dog had this morning. But slowly they gave up to being sleepy and having a long day and they went to sleep.

In the morning little Crystal was having her usual pop tart and heard Mr. Beans out in the backyard growling, she went to the door and opened it to see the dog playing with something long, maybe a stick. "Mommy, look, Mr. Beans found a stick to play with" Clair looked out the window above the sink and gasped as to what the dog had. She waved Wayne over to look and both got a sick feeling in they're gut. Clair got Crystal off to school and again Wayne called the police and told the dispatcher that he needed Officer Jorgensen back because his dog was playing with what looked like a human arm!

After Officer Jorgenson put the arm in a bag, seeing that the index finger was missing he stood up taking off his latex gloves and looked at Wayne and Clair, "I'm not sure how your dog is getting these human remains, but something is clear, if the dog is not leaving the yard, the remains have to be coming from within your property". He paused then continued "I'm going to have to ask you both to come down town until we get this cleared up"!

Both Wayne and Clair spoke to police in separate rooms, both gave them information that lead the police to believe that they were not involved in this in anyway. As they talked to the police, detectives went back to there house and done a thorough investigation to see where the human remains was coming from. But again with equipment that specialized in finding a dead body, they found nothing! Wayne and Clair went home to find nothing out of the ordinary, Mr. Beans was chained up and waging his stub tail at them, both was just flabbergasted by all of this.

Later that night, they was in bed and heard a woman's chilling moan, both sat straight up in bed and saw the dirty old lady floating in the doorway. This time she had no left arm; her head back a bit and tilted to one side. She twisted her body in way to show them and said "Give it back to me, let me rest in peace" and then again, as before she disappeared. It's safe to say that they didn't sleep, the morning sun brought thoughts to both to what Mr. Beans will have this time!

Wayne got up and looked out they're bedroom window to the backyard, he happened to see Mr. Beans come out of his dog house with a human head! He jumped and quickly got dressed and told Clair to do the same and hurry outside. Clair got her robe on and followed him down stairs, but she stopped at the backdoor as Wayne went out to look inside the doghouse. He bent down and stuck his head inside to find where the dog was digging and found, what looked like an old woman's body in dirty dress, minis the arm and head!

Clair called 911 and soon they showed up along with Officer Jorgensen. They removed the dog house from that spot, removed the remains of what appeared to be an old woman in her late seventies, from a hole that the dog had been digging at. The day went on with more relief than the past two day had been, both Wayne and Clair was relieved to have this over with.

The dog got a new chew toy from Pets'R'Us, the police took the body to the medical coroner for a autopsy and closed the case when the report said that the old lady died months before do to heart failure A note was made on the Coroner's report that he was 'baffled' by how the body wasn't decaying, but said it could be because of chemical content of the soil. Police report stated that the body was placed there by a satanic cult that had occupied the property before.

The next day Wayne had poured a few inches of cement where the doghouse went, before replacing it. He placed a thick rug in it for Mr. Beans to sleep on and made sure Mr. Bean was comfy.

That night as Wayne and Clair was just about to fall sleep, a light shown up in their room; they both leaned up and looked towards the door, it was the old lady in a new dress, her arm and finger back and she was smiling. "Thank you Mr. Beans" Then for the last time she faded away never to bother them again.

We Belong

“Oh come on Sue” I said “You don’t believe in ghosts do you?” “Look Dan, I don’t want to go in there, its late my feet hurt and" Sue paused, “besides” she paused again, kind of rolling her eyes at me “what if I do?” I laughed and turned away. She hit me in the back and called me an a-hole. I turned around fast and jumped at her, screaming like a crazy Indian.

She jumped back screaming louder than I did and gave me the look of death; her whispers told me I better not push it with her. “I’m sorry for scaring ya” I told her, and she just looked at me “Oh come on, nothing’s going to happen” I said “Besides I’ll be right next to you the hole time..”

I took her hand and she leaned in to me.  I kissed her forehead and reassured her nothing would happen. We walked through the gate into the cemetery. It was quiet and still. I thought how weird it seemed not to hear a bird or even a slight wind; you could say it had a dead calm to it.

I kept a hold of her hand as we walked passed headstones, trees and bushes, until we came to the spot, the place where, rumor has it, that if you lay down on your back, facing east and chant ‘we belong’ three times, you’ll see a ghost come to show you ‘the way of the dead’ to the afterlife.

“Here we are” I said as Sue pressed against me harder “Lets get out of here Dan, I don’t like it here, it’s got a weird feeling about it and it’s not good” “Oh hon. It’s going to be all right, nothing is going to happen” I whispered “Trust me”. She nodded reliantly but agreed.

We both lay on our backs, she reached over and took my hand again and squeezed it, squeezed like ‘let’s get this over with’. I turned my head and looked at her “ready” I whispered “no” came the reply “but let’s get it over with”  “ok, on three hon.” I took a breath and counted “one, two, three” and we both started chanting “We belong, we belong, we belong”...

Nothing happened! We waited about a minute and nothing. I looked at Sue and said “Hmm, must have been a fairy tale.” But what was weird, was I could see my breath, way out of wack for mid August. Sue sat up, and for what seemed like minutes, but it was just a few short seconds, started to scream! I quickly sat up and grabbed her arm yelling over her voice “What’s the matter”? Then I saw them!

Hundreds of thousands of ghosts were all around us. They stood looking at us from a few yards away. My stomach cringed at the sight. There were all sorts, old, young, nicely dressed, to wearing rags. One woman was holding a baby with tears running down her cheeks, but what chilled my bones was that I could see through each one!

I pulled Sue behind me as I circled around, but everywhere around us were ghosts and more ghosts. One stood out to me, a woman in a long black dress, red hair down pass the middle of her back, her beauty was one of glamour and finely tuned grace, and she stood there looking at us when I said, “We didn’t mean it”

I paused as I keep my eyes on her, “it was a joke.” Then with eyes as cold as steal she glared into mine, her thoughts came to me ever so clearly, “You belong as we belong.” Then you could hear gleeful laughter coming from all around, “We didn’t mean it,” I said forcefully.

“You can’t believe,” she interrupted with words that cut like a sharp knife. “You are one now.” Her lifeless movements spoke her demanding respect as she cut me off like I was nothing more than an ant to her, one she could smash at her whim.

I turned to look at Sue and she was nowhere around, I turned completely around trying to find her, but all I saw was ghosts looking at me. When I stopped and looked back at the woman in the black dress I saw Sue next to her. I shivered hard and what I saw was impossible, very impossible.

Sue stood next to the woman in black and I could see through her, just as I could through all of the ghosts. Sue’s thought’s came to me like the other woman’s did, clear - crystal clear! Her lips didn’t move but I heard “Dan, come to me” she stretched out her arms to me and I took a step back shaking my head ‘no’ and tripped over something hard. I fell to the ground. What the...

...and saw it was a head stone. Looking at the name gave me a deep emptiness in my gut, there in stone I read, ‘Here lies Susan Jean Peterson, she spoke the words’. Oh Dear Lord, I was on her grave! I couldn’t take my eyes off of her head- stone. Thoughts of nothing kept rushing my mind when her words brought me back, “You are one now.” “No!” I said without knowing. Then her headstone turned into my headstone. ‘Here lies Daniel Hatch, he spoke the words.’

Unblinking I saw this black woman in front of me, she started to reach out towards my chest with her hand, her fingers bent and crooked. I tried to scream, but I couldn’t find the air. Paralyzed all I could do was watch, closer and closer her hand came towards my chest.

Then with playful glees from all around me, she reached in to my heart, took it in her hand and said, “when your soul slows down, so will your heart.” Everything went black, slowly my heart stopped, my body tightened, I felt my soul leave my body. Lifting up into the air I turned, and for the first time I saw my dead body lying on the grass, eyes wide, and veins in my neck dark, lifeless.

Sue stood next to me, her look was confusing but her thoughts to me were clear. “Why? Why did you make me come here?” I reached up to touch her cheek but my hand went through her!  “Hey!” A voice of a man yelled out “you kids get out of here”! Sue and I jumped up off the grass, we looked around and off in the distance was a man, he was wearing coveralls and a ball cap.

Sue leaned over to me as she whispered that it must have been the groundskeeper. We both walked towards the entrance of the cemetery, paying no attention to the man. “Did you see what happened Sue?” I asked. She nodded no and asked what. As we walked I told her all that happened to me. “You didn’t see that woman or all the ghosts around?” “No” she said, “nothing happened.” I got all goose bumpy when we stepped passed the gate and onto the street. There was the woman in black, her long dress and red hair flowing in the wind.

Never Again My Sister

Amy was excited to be married this coming June. She met and fell head-over-heels in love with Tom, a man she met while buying groceries. She was pushing her cart around a corner, bumping into his, and the two hit it off. And over the next few months Tom surprised Amy with an engagement ring. One night at dinner Tom got up in front of everyone and said he had an announcement.

He got on his knees and promised Amy that even though he really had nothing to offer her, he could promised her that he would make her the happiest woman, if she would have him as her husband. Through her tears of joy she said yes and finished dinner with claps of glee from the whole establishment, even a free bottle of champagne was opened and shared with the house.

As June approached Amy made her plains for the wedding, picking out her wedding dress, picking out her bridesmaids gowns, and even the date of June 11th. The place she picked out was a lovely little hill just outside of town. She had pictured in her mind how it all was to go, her and Tom standing with the preacher on the top of the hill and all the guests would stand around them to watch them take their vows. She wanted this to be perfect.

Sadly Amy’s wedding was not to be, she heard through the grapevine that Tom had secretly married her sister a week before her blessed day. With her heart ripped from her, she dressed in her wedding gown, went to the hill where she was to be married, put a gun to her head and ended her suffering.

Tom and his newly wedded wife hadn’t had time to hear of Amy’s suicide, it was late at night and they were on their honeymoon. Lying on the bed, they were embraced with each other when the door slowly opened, then closed, just the same.

Both looked and said to one another how weird for the door to do that. Both never gave it a thought and went back to their newly wedded love. Sounds of her breaths gave away what was happening in their honeymoon suite; his moans never gave him any concern to know what was coming.

Soon they both lay there in bed. Tom reaches for a cigarette, lights it, and blows out its smoke from his lips. They talked as the smoke slowly rippled through the air, passed the end of the bed to the door, not noticing that it blew around a visitor they didn’t know they had. Amy stood by the door watching them as they talked and laughed.

Her heart forever broken and never again to be one as she listened to the plans they both made for the rest of their lives. She asked herself why, why would Tom do such a thing, how could he be so cold-hearted towards her. She looked at her sister in Toms arms and wondered how a sister could have no heart. She always got what she wanted at whatever price was to be paid, and she didn’t care who paid, she only took for her own benefit.

The sound of Amy dropping the gun to the wooden floor made Tom and his wife jump with surprise, both had heard it but didn’t know what the sound was. Tom got out of bed and stepped close to the door where he thought the sound came from. He shrugged his shoulders to his wife and started back to bed. Tom’s wife screamed as she pulled the cover up over her breasts. She demanded that Amy leave, and leave them to their blessed day.

Tom turned around facing the door, seeing Amy there in her wedding dress, seeing her for the first time since two days before for an early brunch. His speechlessness spoke volumes to Amy, she just stared at him with a faceless glaze.

He turned to look at his wife, trying to find the right words to speak. He saw how his wife’s face was one of vivid horror, her eyes wide as she slowly lifted an arm, pointing past him to her only sister Amy. He turned back to look at Amy, and she had turned her head showing them a small bullet hole just above her temple.

He gasped as she turned back to face Tom with that glazeless stare. Amy spoke in their thoughts that they were to live a long and wonderful life together, that they can have all of what life can give if they only strive together to achieve it. She told them that they had her blessing and all was forgiven, she told them that it was important to her that they both knew this.

Amy then turned her head the other way and showed them both the gaping hole that used to be her beautiful head, and her hair of gold. Tom gasped as he saw the blood and brain matter mixed. He stumbled back and tripped, falling to the floor. Both Tom and his new bride screamed as they knew what Amy had done.

Amy slowly turned back to face her sister, and with her voice in life, told her that this is the last time she’d ever take it from her again. And hopefully the last she’d take from anyone. Then Amy disappeared before them, as her voice rang over and over to her sister’s ears, until it was just a small murmur of nothing, “Never again my sister, never again my sister, never again my sister.”
