Hollywood. The City of Lights, Glamour, and Movie Stars. Tinseltown. The city of big dreams, riches, fame and fortune. Hollywood. The city of grisly deaths, Ghosts and Curses.
Since its first Motion Picture Studio (Nestor Studios) was built in 1913, the ever-flourishing film studios would become one of the biggest money-making machines in the expanding city of Los Angeles. It is now a thriving industry for the rich and famous, where money is made, swallowed up, and expended like waste for the affluent.



As the public’s necessity and consumption of entertainment grew, the star factory spewed out more and more icons that filled the silver screen. The movie industry known for its "Beautiful People" trickled down from the big screen and into the homes of the ever-adoring movie fans. Television sets all over the world paraded stars like Marilyn Monroe, John Wayne, Clark Gable, Errol Flynn, and many more, along with their films, and we were instantly sold.  



But Hollywood also has a much darker side. Away from the lights and glamour, there is also a forbidding and treacherous side that resides in the darker corners of Tinseltown, where even the upper echelon, in all their glory is not exempt from danger and crime. And sometimes, even movie icons meet with foul play.

And when the lights dim for these golden gods and goddesses, they are laid to rest in marbled tombs made for kings and queens. However, a few refuse to stay silent even after death. Some even come back to haunt the living or simply remain on this plain of existence, unable to move on from the physical world they once knew.
 Along the star-paved streets that immortalize the rich and the famous, among the rolling mansions that dot the Hollywood hills, there are many tales of murder, unrested ghosts of the silver screen, and curses that followed many to the grave.



Therefore, journey if you will, to Hollywood. The City of Angels, Ghosts, and Curses.

Beneath the torrential wind and wave of aqua blue lies an arcane world unknown to man. Here wrecks of antiquated splendor have plunged and settled beneath the shadowy fathoms of the deep. Here, where many a mariner have surrendered the ghost to the watery abyss, there are tales told of specters who mann their ships to the ocean's surface on some supernatural nights. When conditions are just right, a grim fog settles over the glassy surface of blue and skeletal hands grip and guide the helm of the ship across the ocean wide.
 
For centuries, many a seafarer who have sailed across the watery world tell tales of finned monsters that spring up from the murky fathoms to sink ships and devour human flesh. Tales of sea sirens, known as mermaids, who would sing to the sailors, distracting them and causing their ships to wreck. It is here, on the vast blue that superstitions were born.

Many sailors believed that throwing stones in the sea would cause storms, or flowers on board a ship would bring bad luck. Women on board were considered bad luck, and killing an albatross was also believed to bring ill fortune. Another frightening superstition shared among the sailors was that if a sailor died violently at sea, he was said to go to "Davy Jone's Locker" at the bottom of the sea.

Of the many superstitions and oceanic myths that were told, the tale of the ghost ship was among the greatest of all legends. Many mariners have sworn that these ships do exist and are not legends. But do such ships truly exist? Could such a ship cruise the foamy seas by moonlight, manned by ghostly captains? And if so does this mean the ships are cursed to sail on into infinity, never to find their way home? Or is this simply more ghost stories to be shared around the family hearth? You can decide for yourself.
